Tourism footfall hit due to GST on casinos: CM
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today said that levy of 28 per cent GST on the full face value of bets in online gaming and casinos has affected overall tourism footfall in Goa.
Speaking to media after attending the GST council meet in Delhi on Monday, Sawant said that there is need to rethink on the issue.
"Overall footfall is affected. People who were coming to Goa to visit or play only in casinos are now preferring to go to foreign countries including Sri Lanka," he said.
Sawant said that the State should be given an opportunity to represent the case.
He said that as of date 28 per cent GST continues.
