Superintendent and inspector arrested while accepting Rs.4 lakh bribe over OYO transactions
The Jabalpur CBI team raided the Central GST (CGST) office located in Gwarighat on Wednesday evening. Superintendent Mukesh Varman and Inspector Sachin Kant, posted there, were caught red-handed accepting a bribe of 4 lakh rupees. As soon as the CBI team reached the office, there was a commotion throughout the premises.
Both officials had objected to transactions related to OYO transactions with hotelier Vivek Tripathi. The officials had demanded a bribe of 10 lakh rupees to settle the matter. Disturbed by this pressure, the hotelier complained with CBI Jabalpur.
Threatened with a recovery of one crore Both officers posted in Central GST had threatened the hotelier by saying that due to OYO transactions, a recovery of about one crore rupees was being made. A warning of strict action was given if the amount was not deposited soon.
As per CBI's plan, both officers were arrested in their office at 6 PM while accepting a bribe of 4 lakh rupees. Currently, CBI is interrogating both of them and investigating other aspects related to the case.
