State GST conducts raids on 20 firms in Jamnagar
The State GST Department has conducted raids at more than 22 locations including businesses and residences of around 20 different firms in Jamnagar. These raids, which began in the morning, have caused significant commotion in the business community.
Initial investigations in these raids have revealed tax evasion of more than 80 crores, and not only that, but a Chartered Accountant (CA) has also been found to have an active role in this matter.
State GST conducts simultaneous raids on 20 companies
The State GST department conducted research based on information received. After research, considering the obtained details, this morning State GST officials from Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Bhavnagar and Jamnagar conducted simultaneous raids on about 20 companies in Jamnagar involved in different businesses.
During this operation, an active role of a Chartered Accountant (CA) from Jamnagar has also come to light. Initial investigation has revealed that these companies have evaded taxes amounting to more than 80 crores. The amount of tax evasion is likely to increase during the examination of documents seized in these raids.
The entire scam was carried out by CA
In the preliminary investigation conducted by the State GST department, it has come to light that traders from different businesses are clients of the Chartered Accountant and the scam was carried out by the CA. Regarding this, a detailed investigation has been initiated to understand how the entire scam was being finalized.
Initially, it appears that the scam was being conducted through billing.
