Recovery of income-tax dues doubles to Rs 20,000 crore in Q1
The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) recovered Rs.20,000 crore in outstanding dues in the first quarter of this financial year, almost double of what it had recovered in the year-ago period. The sum included Rs.17,244 crore as corporate tax, Rs.2,714 crore as personal income-tax and Rs.180 crore as short payment or non-payment of tax deducted at source, said officials.
The recovery was against the demand notices sent by the income-tax department till March 31.
