Navi Mumbai: Senior GST officer duped of Rs 70 lakh by builder
A joint commissioner in GST department posted at Konkan Bhavan, Navi Mumbai, has been duped of Rs 70 lakh in Kharghar after being assured of a row house.
Officer Ramesh Jaid (58) while searching for a property came across builder Jayram Ray, who showed him a ground plus three-storey row house in sector 12, Kharghar, and took Rs 70 lakh. However, after the registration Jaid came to know that it is mortgaged with bank and additional Rs 40 lakh have been demanded by the builder who has an outstanding loan of Rs 1.87 crore. Ray had agreed to sell the house for Rs 60 lakh, and had allegedly taken Rs 10 lakh in March upon agreement to rent its ground floor. A case of cheating has been filed at Kharghar police station.
