Intelligence-Based GST Raids Continue in Srinagar
Srinagar: The Central Goods and Services Tax (GST) has been carrying out intelligence-driven raids across multiple locations in Srinagar city over the past two days, targeting alleged GST evasion.
Sources revealed to the Srinagar-based news gathering agency Kashmir Dot Com that a team from the GST Centre, headed by Additional Commissioner Iftikhar Hussain Chaudhary, arrived at Hotel Meridian in Raj Bagh on Tuesday with a search warrant to investigate room number 208.
The room, according to sources, is occupied by a guest from Jammu, identified as an employee of the Indian Tobacco Company (ITC).
“Residences and rented accommodations linked to individuals associated with the company were also searched on Wednesday as part of the operation conducted under Section 67 of the GST Act,” sources said, adding that Section 67 of the GST Act empowers the department to conduct inspections, searches, and seizures.
