Infosys GST case decision will be taken once IT company files a reply: DGGI
Infosys, the country's second-largest IT firm, remains mired in a longstanding GST case.
According to the Principal Director at the Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI), Anil Kumar Gupta, the investigative agency is still waiting to hear back from Infosys on the pre-show cause notice, which was issued to the IT major in July.
Gupta told CNBC-TV18 in an exclusive interview that the agency has submitted its view in detail to the Central Board of Indirect taxes and Customs (CBIC) on the matter.
"We have submitted our detailed analysis on the Infosys case to CBIC's policy wing. The government is assessing the pros and cons," Gupta said.
On being asked whether the government is considering a tweak in Circular 210, to give relief to Infosys, Gupta reiterated that this prerogative lies with the policy wing at CBIC and the GST Council, so the DGGI has no role to play on the policy decision.
