GST rate on Diethylcarbamazine (DEC) tablets reduced to 5% from 12%

The CBIC vide Notification No. 01/2021- Central Tax (Rate) dated June 02, 2021 amended Notification No. 01/2017- Central Tax (Rate) dated June 28, 2017 (“Goods Rate Notification”) as under:

• in Schedule I - 2.5%, against S. No. 259A, for the entry in column (2), the entry “9503” shall be substituted; 

• Inserted serial number “(231). Diethylcarbamazine” after Schedule I of Goods Rate Notification, under List 1:

            “List 1 [See S.No.180 of the Schedule I (i.e., Drugs or medicines including their salts and esters and diagnostic  test kits, specified in List 1 appended to this Schedule)] - (231)  Diethylcarbamazine”
