The GST Council is likely to give relief to auto companies on their SUV portfolio, reported CNBC-TV18 citing sources on December 16.

Fitment committee recommendations to help put to rest GST dues claims raised prior to July 26, 2023 against auto companies, the channel reported.

Several Central and state GST authorities had raised claims to auto companies. SIAM had made representations to Finance Ministry, CNBC-TV18 had reported.

The GST fitment panel is also likely to propose rate cuts on gene therapy, fly ash bricks & fortified rice, reported CNBC-TV18.
