GST Frauds: The number of cases of online fraud involving GST payments has increased. Scammers are asking you to download the challan for GST payment via phone calls, SMS, and mail. However, as soon as the businessman clicks the download link, all the money from his bank account may get drained. To warn against such fraud, the GST Council, GST Network, and Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs issue advisories on a regular basis. A similar warning was recently issued to alert businessmen about such scams.

GST Fraud Advisory

If you are a GST businessman, you may have received or will receive an email from the GST department stating that your GST has been deducted from your account and that you must click on the link provided in the email to download the challan. But do not make this mistake. According to the most recent advisory, the GST Council never requests GST payments via phone calls, messages, or mail. Everyone is advised not to deposit money into any bank account based on such phony calls, messages, or emails. If such a fraudulent incident occurs to anyone, the GST Council will not be held accountable. If this occurs, file a complaint with the police.
