Govt issues Strict Direction for GST Revenue Target Achievement

In a bid to meet the revenue targets set for the current financial year, the Central GST & Excise Commissionerate at Surat has issued a crucial direction to all Grade A & B officers. The office circular, dated 07.02.2024, follows the D.O. dated 18.01.2024 from Chief Commissioner, Vadodara Zone.

The directive, approved by the competent authority, underscores the importance of sustained efforts and operational continuity.

All officers in the mentioned grades – Grade A & Grade B are directed to abstain from routine leaves until 31st March 2024, unless faced with exceptional circumstances or for medical reasons.

In November 2023, the total gross GST revenue amounted to Rs.1,67,929 crore, comprising CGST at Rs.30,420 crore, SGST at Rs.38,226 crore, IGST at Rs.87,009 crore (including Rs. 39,198 crore from import of goods), and cess at Rs.12,274 crore ( including Rs.1,036 crore from import of goods ). From the IGST, the government disbursed Rs.37,878 crore to CGST and Rs.31,557 crore to SGST. The cumulative revenue for the Centre and States in November 2023, post-settlement, reached Rs.68,297 crore for CGST and Rs.69,783 crore for SGST.
