Go Digit General Insurance Faces Rs.20.51 Crore GST Show-Cause Notice
Go Digit General Insurance Limited has received a show-cause notice from the Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) seeking recovery of more than Rs.20.51 crore, according to a regulatory filing made with stock exchanges on Tuesday.
“We hereby inform you that the Company has received a Show Cause Notice on 25th May 2026 from the Directorate General of GST Intelligence, issued under Section 74(1) of the Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017, whereby a demand of Rs. 20,51,00,281/- has been raised by the GST Authority,” the company said in its exchange filing.
The Bengaluru zonal unit of the DGGI issued the notice under Section 74(1) of the CGST Act, alleging ineligible availment of Input Tax Credit (ITC) by the insurer during the period from September 2022 to March 2024.
The proposed GST demand amounts to Rs.20.51 crore, excluding applicable interest and penalties that may also be imposed under GST provisions.
In its disclosure, the company stated that the notice relates to alleged irregular ITC claims and seeks an explanation as to why the demand, along with interest and penalty, should not be confirmed against the insurer.
Go Digit clarified that there is currently no immediate financial impact, as the matter remains at the show-cause stage and no final order has yet been passed by the tax authorities.
“The Company is evaluating the SCN and, based on advice from its tax advisors, shall file a detailed reply with the adjudicating authority within the prescribed timelines, and shall pursue all legal remedies available to it,” the company added.
The insurer further stated that it had previously disclosed developments related to the matter and has now updated investors in compliance with Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
