Finance Ministry takes decision on GST rates on online gaming, to come into effect from Oct

As per a recent tweet by ET now, the Finance Ministry decides on GST rates on online gaming, casino & horse racing to come into effect from October 01, 2023.

Here are the other points to note:

• Decision on GST rates on online gaming, casino & horse racing to come into effect from Oct 1, 2023
• The proposed amendments do not affect the tax on casual online gaming
• Proposed amendments will not affect online gaming where no real money/betting/wager is involved
• All states will have to pass amendments in the SGST Act from their assemblies
