Faceless assessment, e-returns have made compliance easy
Faceless assessments and e-returns have aided in collecting high revenue and made compliance easy for assesses, said S B Prasad, principal commissioner, Income Tax department, Indore on Friday.
The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs Chief Commissioner Navneet Goel said, “There is no reason to panic on receiving notices from the department as these are being sent to assess after scrutiny of returns. Assesses should timely respond to notices to avoid any escalation.”
There are around 3 lakh assesses under GST in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
To address challenges in revenue collection and put a curb on illegal invoicing, earlier in January, Goel had said that the department is also working on forming a tax advisory committee where industrialists, chartered accountants, common man and officials can be a part to suggest ways to increase revenues and stop fake invoices.
Tax experts said that the era of artificial intelligence and data analysis has made fetching information very easy and fast.
