EOW busts two GST frauds, eight arrested
The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Delhi Police has busted two separate GST fraud cases involving fake firms and fraudulent input tax credit claims, arresting eight people in connection with the scams.
According to officials, the accused created multiple shell companies using forged documents and fake identities to generate bogus invoices without actual supply of goods or services. These fake invoices were allegedly used to fraudulently claim and pass on input tax credit under the GST regime.
In the first case, investigators uncovered a network of fake firms involved in circular trading and fraudulent transactions amounting to several crores. In another case, the accused were found operating numerous bogus entities to evade taxes and illegally avail GST benefits.
The EOW stated that digital evidence, fake documents, mobile phones, laptops, and financial records were seized during raids conducted at multiple locations. Officials said further investigation is underway to identify additional beneficiaries and the total extent of tax evasion involved in the racket.
