CBI Nabs CGST Official For Accepting Rs. 15k Bribe
Berhampur: The CBI arrested the superintendent of Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) and Central Excise, Berhampur, on Wednesday while allegedly accepting bribe of Rs 15,000.
The accused has been identified as Manoj Kumar Subudhi.
He had allegedly demanded Rs 20,000 as bribe from the complainant to process the GST refund.
Sources said the accused had demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 from the complainant on the ground that he had earlier processed a GST refund of Rs 1.77 lakh and had also helped in smooth processing of another GST refund of about Rs 3 lakh.
The accused allegedly demanded Rs 20,000 from the complainant and agreed to take Rs 15,000 in the first phase.
Subudhi was arrested from the office of the assistant commissioner, CGST and Central Excise while accepting the bribe.
