CAG report points to Rs.755.49 cr. revenue loss pertaining to GST of Commercial Tax Dept.

As per a CAG report tabled in the Assembly on Thursday, under assessment/short levy/ loss of revenue aggregating to Rs.755.49 crore pertaining to Goods and Services Tax of the Commercial Tax Department has been found.

According to Report No 7 of 2024 of Comptroller and Auditor General of India for the period ended March 2022 (Compliance Audit-Civil) during 2021-22 test check of the records of 418 cases under centralized audit, 61 cases under detailed audit and 10 LGTSTOs under range audit relating to GST was done and it revealed under assessment, short levy, loss of revenue aggregating to Rs.755.49 crore.

After it was brought to its notice, the department accepted under assessment and other deficiencies in 46 cases and recovered an amount of Rs.2.64 crore.

With regard to the Department of Stamps and Registration, audit conducted test check of records of 42 unit-offices and noticed under assessment/short levy/loss of revenue aggregating to Rs.193.08 crore which were pointed out through 143 paragraphs.
