Budget 2024 LIVE News Updates, Interim Budget 2024: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday announced that the same tax rates will be retained for the direct and indirect taxes including export duties.

Further, she also announced that the capex outlay for the next year will be increased by 11% to 11.1 lakh crore.

Notably, in the last full budget of the Modi government 2.0, the capital expenditure outlay was proposed to be increased by 33 per cent to Rs 10 lakh crore in 2023-24.

While announcing the federal budget for this fiscal year, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman revised the fiscal gap to 5.8% of gross domestic product from 5.8% earlier.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday announced that the government will be launching a scheme to help the deserving sections of middle class, as quoted by PM Modi "living in rented houses, slums or chawls or unauthorised colonies", which will help them to buy or build their own houses.
