Advisory on Biometric Aadhaar Authentication for GST Registration in TN & Himachal Pradesh
GSTN has introduced a biometric-based Aadhaar authentication process for GST registration applicants in Tamil Nadu and Himachal Pradesh, effective January 28, 2025. As per the amended Rule 8 of the CGST Rules, 2017, applicants are identified using data analysis and risk parameters. The process involves either OTP-based Aadhaar authentication or a visit to a GST Suvidha Kendra (GSK) for biometric authentication and document verification. Applicants receiving an OTP authentication link can continue with the existing process. Those directed to GSKs must book an appointment through a provided link. Required documents include Aadhaar and PAN cards (originals), jurisdiction details, and uploaded documents. ARNs will be issued post successful authentication and verification. This initiative aims to enhance the registration process with stringent verification measures.
