Accused Claimed GST Refund By Citing Bogus E-Bike Companies
Hyderabad: The Central Crime Station (CCS) sleuths investigating the 23 crore GST refund scam have found that the accused had committed the fraud by citing bogus e-bikes companies for GST refund. Police said that they arrested five GST department employees.
CCS officials arrested five accused — GST deputy commissioner Nalgonda P Swarna Kumar, assistant commissioner (State Taxes) Abids circle K Venu Gopal, assistant commissioner (state taxes) Madhapur circle P Viswa Kiran, deputy state tax officer Madhapur circle Venkata Ramana and senior assistant Madhapur circle Marri Mahitha on Friday.
“The accused persons started bogus electric bike manufacturing units with various names by collecting electricity bills from the owners of the addresses. Later, they registered the firms in GST portal by submitting fake and fabricated rental agreements,” police said.
The accused conspired with tax consultant Chiraag Sharma who allegedly supplied fake documents to claim the GST refund.
“Sharma created fake invoices, e-way bills and inward supply bills in the name of fake and bogus firms, showing non-existent company as existing and filed GST refunds by offering bribes to the state government GST officials and claimed the GST refunds,” the officials said.
